🚵‍♂️🧡 NIX BLOG | TORQUE'S ULTIMATE WISH LIST

Every Accessory, Upgrade, Gadget, Dream Addition and Adventure Enhancer for My New Scott Aspect eRIDE 910

A Super NIX Blog

Estimated Reading Time: 30 Minutes

Featuring Torque, Vanilla, Towzer and a Mildly Dangerous Amount of Online Shopping

🧡 FOREWORD

There are certain moments in life that make you feel like a small boy waiting for Christmas morning.

Buying my new Scott Aspect eRIDE 910 was one of them.

At 63 years old, I thought I had reached an age where I'd become sensible.

Apparently not.

Because within hours of ordering Torque, I had begun researching:

  • Mudguards

  • Saddles

  • Bottle cages

  • GPS trackers

  • Helmets

  • Cameras

  • Lights

  • Locks

  • Pumps

  • Backpacks

  • Jersey pockets

  • Chain lubricants

  • Titanium bolts

And before long I was watching YouTube videos about bicycle accessories while eating toast.

The worrying thing?

I was enjoying every second.

🚵 CHAPTER 1

THE PERFECT TORQUE COLOUR SCHEME

Torque is already beautiful.

Midnight Grey.

Bosch powered.

Modern.

Purposeful.

But every NIX machine requires branding.

The objective is simple:

🩶 Grey

🧡 Orange

Everything should match:

  • Vanilla

  • My helmet

  • My Nix Drones branding

  • My general inability to ignore orange accessories

Future upgrades:

✅ Orange grips

✅ Orange pedals

✅ Orange bottle cage

✅ Orange valve caps

✅ Orange detailing

Will they improve performance?

Not remotely.

Will they improve happiness?

Massively.

🔒 CHAPTER 2

SECURITY

Nothing ruins a ride faster than theft.

Torque cost £2,500.

That means security matters.

A lot.

🥇 Litelok X1

This would be my first major accessory purchase.

Why?

Because professional bike thieves hate them.

The aim isn't making the bike impossible to steal.

The aim is making somebody else's bike easier.

A harsh reality.

But a useful one.

📍 Hidden AirTag

A hidden AirTag offers:

✅ Tracking

✅ Peace of mind

✅ Recovery potential

For less than the price of a pub lunch.

🔐 Café Strategy

My personal rule:

Coffee within sight of Torque.

Always.

No exceptions.

🚨 CHAPTER 3

LIGHTS

Many cyclists buy lights for darkness.

I buy lights because I know how difficult cyclists can be to see from an HGV cab.

Exposure Trace

Tiny.

Powerful.

Reliable.

Exposure TraceR

Arguably more important.

Rear visibility saves lives.

Simple as that.

Future Upgrade

Exposure Strada.

Because eventually I know I'll want brighter lights.

We all do.

💧 CHAPTER 4

THE WATER BOTTLE RABBIT HOLE

Nobody warns you about this.

You buy a bike.

Then suddenly you're comparing water bottles.

For weeks.

Orange Bottle

The sensible choice.

Matches Torque.

Matches Vanilla.

Matches life.

CamelBak Podium

The cyclist's favourite.

Light.

Practical.

Reliable.

YETI Rambler

Indestructible.

Heavy.

Magnificent.

Capable of surviving nuclear war.

📱 CHAPTER 5

THE DIGITAL COCKPIT

When I was young:

Map.

Compass.

Guesswork.

Today's cyclist:

Phone.

Navigation.

Weather.

Emergency contacts.

Fitness tracking.

Heart rate.

Battery monitoring.

Quad Lock

The first accessory I'd fit.

Without question.

Turns the handlebars into mission control.

Apps

Bosch Flow

Bike data.

Battery data.

Ride data.

Everything.

Komoot

Adventure planner.

Trail finder.

Exploration machine.

Strava

Where average people pretend they're professional athletes.

Apple Health

Keeps score.

Whether you like it or not.

🎒 CHAPTER 6

THE PERFECT BACKPACK

My ideal ride backpack:

Safety

✅ First aid kit

✅ Emergency cash

✅ Phone charger

Repairs

✅ Multi-tool

✅ Tube

✅ Pump

✅ Tyre levers

Comfort

✅ Water

✅ Snack

✅ More snacks

NIX Essentials

✅ DJI Mini 4 Pro batteries

✅ SD cards

✅ Drone controller

Because every ride might become a photography adventure.

📷 CHAPTER 7

CAMERAS

This is where things become financially dangerous.

As a drone enthusiast I already know how this story ends.

DJI Action Camera

Helmet mounted.

Capture everything.

Chest Mount

Fantastic perspective.

Handlebar Mount

Makes every ride look faster.

Even when you're crawling uphill.

🪑 CHAPTER 8

SAVING MY BACKSIDE

At 63 years old comfort matters.

A lot.

Ergon Saddle

Potentially the greatest invention in cycling.

Designed for:

Comfort.

Support.

Actually enjoying longer rides.

Suspension Seatpost

A future possibility.

Especially for rougher trails.

🧤 CHAPTER 9

CLOTHING

Modern cycling clothing is surprisingly impressive.

Gloves

Reduce vibration.

Protect hands.

Essential.

Glasses

Protect against:

🐝 Bees

🪰 Flies

🌧 Rain

🌞 UV

Waterproof Jacket

This is Britain.

Need I say more?

🎥 YOUTUBE

Search:

"Essential MTB Clothing"

🛞 CHAPTER 10

MUDGUARDS

British cycling's greatest invention.

SKS Mudrockers

My favourite choice.

Benefits:

✅ Cleaner bike

✅ Cleaner rider

✅ Cleaner backpack

✅ Cleaner dignity

Without mudguards:

You arrive home looking like you've escaped from a swamp.

🔧 CHAPTER 11

HOME WORKSHOP

Eventually I'd love:

Bike Stand

Makes maintenance easy.

Torque Wrench

Protect expensive components.

Cleaning Station

For post-Chase mud removal.

Wall Display

Because Torque deserves admiration.

🎥 YOUTUBE

Search:

"Home Bike Workshop Setup"

🚐 CHAPTER 12

TORQUE MEETS VANILLA

This is where everything becomes exciting.

The bike isn't replacing walking.

The bike isn't replacing the campervan.

The bike enhances both.

Imagine:

Friday.

Bike on Towzer.

Coffee in hand.

Vanilla loaded.

Destination:

Anywhere.

North Wales.

The Lakes.

Scotland.

Norway.

Europe.

Every adventure becomes bigger.

🏕 CHAPTER 13

CAMPING WITH TORQUE

Future touring kit:

✅ Bike cover

✅ Travel lock

✅ Cleaning kit

✅ Spare brake pads

✅ Chain lube

Because travelling means preparation.

🏴 CHAPTER 14

DREAM RIDES

Cannock Chase

The obvious starting point.

Llandegla

Classic trail centre.

Coed y Brenin

Bucket list.

Lake District

Spectacular scenery.

Scotland

Even better.

Norway

The ultimate dream.

🎥 YOUTUBE

Search:

"Best MTB Trails Norway"

Warning:

May trigger immediate holiday planning.

☕ CHAPTER 15

THE CAFE STOP

An underrated part of cycling.

Every ride needs:

Coffee.

Cake.

Conversation.

Recovery.

In roughly that order.

🔋 CHAPTER 16

THE SPARE BATTERY FANTASY

Do I need one?

No.

Do I want one?

Absolutely.

Because range anxiety affects cyclists too.

💰 CHAPTER 17

BEST VALUE UPGRADES

If I had £500:

🥇 Litelok X1

🥈 SKS Mudrockers

🥉 Exposure Lights

🏅 Quad Lock

🏅 Ergon Saddle

If I had £1,000:

Add:

✅ Action camera

✅ Workshop stand

✅ Riding gear

If I had £2,000:

At that point we're simply getting carried away.

🏁 FINAL THOUGHTS

The funny thing is that none of these accessories are really the point.

The point is what they enable.

A sunrise over Cannock Chase.

A hidden Staffordshire trail.

A Scottish mountain view.

A quiet coffee stop.

A drone photograph.

A day outdoors.

A new adventure.

Torque isn't just a bicycle.

It's a passport to exploration.

And that's why, at 63 years old, I'm as excited as a small boy waiting for Christmas morning.

Because somewhere out there is a trail I haven't ridden.

A view I haven't photographed.

A memory I haven't made.

And Torque is waiting to help me find it.
