The Ultimate Super NIX Note for Nix Drones

šŸŽÆ Why Nemesis Still Matters

My DJI Mavic 2 Pro ā€œNemesisā€ is still one of the most useful drones I own.

Yes, there are newer drones.

Yes, there are lighter drones.

Yes, there are drones with more sensors, better obstacle avoidance and more flashy marketing videos.

But when it comes to proper waypoint flying, smooth cinematic footage, repeatable roof survey routes and reliable Litchi missions, Nemesis is still superb.

The Mavic 2 Pro has something that many newer drones do not:

  • Full onboard waypoint missions

  • Proper Litchi compatibility

  • Smooth interpolation

  • Excellent wind handling

  • A superb 1-inch Hasselblad camera

  • Adjustable aperture

  • Great dynamic range

  • Stable flying in difficult conditions

For Nix Drones jobs, that matters more than having the newest toy.

šŸ“ø Why The Camera Is Still Brilliant

The DJI Mavic 2 Pro camera is still fantastic in 2026.

The 1-inch Hasselblad sensor produces rich colours, lovely contrast, strong detail and beautiful skies.

It is especially good for:

  • Roof inspections

  • Estate agent shots

  • Countryside landscapes

  • Reservoirs and lakes

  • Churches

  • Farms

  • Campers and vehicles

  • Sunrise and sunset footage

  • Scottish scenery

  • Dramatic weather

The adjustable aperture also makes a huge difference.

You can stop down in bright sunlight and keep your shutter speed under control without always relying on ND filters.

That makes the footage look smoother and more professional.

🧠 Why Litchi Is So Good

Litchi is not just another drone app.

It is basically a film director for your drone.

It allows you to control:

  • Waypoints

  • Height

  • Speed

  • Gimbal angle

  • Camera heading

  • POIs

  • Curve sizes

  • Orbit radius

  • Finish actions

  • Panorama settings

  • Follow modes

  • Focus modes

  • VR modes

The best part is that the Mavic 2 Pro can upload the entire mission directly into the drone before take-off.

That means if signal drops for a few seconds, the drone can often keep flying the mission.

Many newer drones depend more heavily on live stick inputs and may stop or return home sooner.

šŸ’» Mission Hub – The Secret Weapon

Mission Hub is one of the best things about Litchi.

Instead of standing in a cold field poking a phone screen, you can sit at home with a brew and plan everything properly on a bigger screen.

Mission Hub allows you to set:

  • Exact waypoint positions

  • Heights

  • Speeds

  • Camera angles

  • Curve sizes

  • POIs

  • Gimbal movements

  • Route direction

  • Return-to-home behaviour

This is brilliant for repeatable jobs.

For example:

  • A church roof inspection

  • A pub roof survey

  • A campsite reveal

  • A road-follow mission

  • A campervan orbit

  • A lochside reveal

  • A seasonal comparison shot

You can save all of these and reuse them whenever you want.

šŸŽ¬ Understanding Interpolation

Interpolation is the secret to smooth footage.

Instead of the camera suddenly snapping between angles, interpolation gradually changes the camera position as the drone moves.

Example:

  • Waypoint 1 = Gimbal at -10°

  • Waypoint 2 = Gimbal at -25°

  • Waypoint 3 = Gimbal at -45°

Instead of jumping suddenly, the camera tilts smoothly.

Exactly the same thing applies to heading changes.

If the drone is facing north at one waypoint and east at the next, interpolation smoothly rotates the drone between the two.

That is how you get those lovely cinematic movements.

šŸ”„ Curved Turns vs Straight Lines

Straight Lines

Best for:

  • Roof inspections

  • Gutter surveys

  • Chimney work

  • Solar panels

  • Buildings

  • Industrial yards

Curved Turns

Best for:

  • Campervan reveals

  • Road-follow shots

  • Woodland runs

  • Lochside missions

  • Countryside flights

  • Church orbits

  • Estate agent videos

My general curve size guide:

  • Roof surveys = 10% to 20%

  • Buildings = 20% to 30%

  • Campervans = 50% to 60%

  • Open countryside = 60% to 80%

  • Lochs and reservoirs = 70% to 80%

āš™ļø My Recommended Settings For Nemesis

General Scenic Flying

  • Speed = 3 m/s

  • Curve Size = 60%

  • Gimbal Mode = Interpolate

  • Heading Mode = Waypoint Defined

  • Gimbal Smoothness = 25

  • Yaw Smoothness = 25

Roof Surveys

  • Speed = 2 m/s

  • Curve Size = 20%

  • Gimbal = -45° to -90°

  • Focus POI = Enabled

Campervan Missions

  • Speed = 2.5 to 3 m/s

  • Curve Size = 60%

  • Gimbal = -10° to -35°

  • Height = 5m to 35m

🚐 My Favourite Vanilla Missions

šŸŒ… Lay-By Reveal

Start behind a hedge or wall and slowly rise to reveal Vanilla.

šŸ”„ Orbit Around Vanilla

A smooth circle around the van with the awning out and pop-top raised.

ā˜• Tea Mug Pullback

Start on a mug of tea and reveal Vanilla behind it.

🌌 Night Lights Orbit

Use the BioLite lights, projector glow and awning lights.

🚪 Sliding Door Shot

Slowly approach Vanilla as the side door opens.

šŸ•ļø Campsite Departure Shot

Start behind Vanilla and slowly rise as it drives away.

šŸ›£ļø Highland Road Follow

Track Vanilla along winding roads.

šŸ  My Favourite Nix Drones Missions

  • Roof surveys

  • Chimney inspections

  • Church tower orbits

  • Estate agent hero shots

  • Farmyard flyovers

  • Pub roof surveys

  • Solar panel inspections

  • Gutter checks

  • Industrial yard overviews

  • AP Webb machine yard sweeps

Because Litchi routes are repeatable, you can compare the same building over time.

That is fantastic for:

  • Storm damage comparisons

  • Roofing projects

  • Solar installations

  • Construction progress

  • Estate agent marketing

šŸ“ Scotland Mission Ideas

  • Misty loch reveal

  • Castle reveal

  • Beach to mountain climb

  • Highland bridge sweep

  • Applecross Pass follow

  • Single-track road run

  • Campsite reveal

  • Reservoir edge sweep

Scotland is absolutely made for Litchi missions.

  • Repeatable routes

  • Good wind handling

  • Better cinematic flying

The most common complaints are:

  • Litchi takes time to learn

šŸ Final Verdict

Nemesis is staying.

For Nix Drones, it is still one of the most useful drones I own.

It is stable.

It is cinematic.

It works brilliantly with Litchi.

And once you understand waypoint missions, interpolation, curve sizes and POIs, every pub, reservoir, church, campsite, lay-by, bridge, loch and country lane suddenly becomes a potential mission.

That is when drone flying becomes much more than just flying.

That is when it becomes storytelling.
