⚽🏆 NIX | My World Cup Round-Up So Far
I’m absolutely loving this World Cup.
The new 48-team format has made almost every day feel like a football festival, with matches from lunchtime until late evening. There have been plenty of surprises, some brilliant goals, and enough drama to keep me glued to the television.
🦁 England
England have made a solid start. The 4–2 win over Croatia was full of attacking quality, while the 0–0 draw with Ghana wasn’t exactly a classic, but tournament football is about getting points as much as entertaining.
As an Aston Villa supporter, it’s been fantastic seeing Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers and Ezri Konsa wearing the England shirt. Villa are becoming a real force, and seeing our players on the biggest stage makes me immensely proud.
🦁 Scotland
Scotland began well by beating Haiti, but defeats to Morocco and then Brazil have left them on the brink of elimination. Results haven’t gone their way, but their supporters have once again been outstanding, and John McGinn has led by example throughout.
🇧🇦 Bosnia
The real feel-good story for me has been Bosnia.
After drawing with Canada and losing heavily to Switzerland, they bounced back brilliantly to beat Qatar 3–1 and reach the knockout stage. They’ve shown real character and have become one of the tournament’s surprise packages.
I’m especially pleased for Az, who’ll be absolutely delighted to see her beloved Bosnia still flying the flag. I can only imagine the celebrations after that win!
🌍 Overall
Germany, France, Brazil, Portugal and Argentina all look like genuine contenders, but World Cups are rarely won in the group stage. The knockout rounds are where legends are made.
England are quietly building momentum.
Scotland can hold their heads high.
Bosnia have captured plenty of hearts.
And me?
I’m thoroughly enjoying every minute. Bring on the knockout football! ⚽🏆🇺🇸
